The monthlong Child Abuse Prevention Month observance in the United States is dedicated to raising awareness and highlighting the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.
On Tuesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. in Forsyth Park, members of the Savannah community are invited to help CCAC tie blue ribbons, a symbol of child abuse prevention, around Forsyth Park’s historic oak trees to bring public awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Month. CCAC kindly asks participants to meet by the tennis courts at the southeast corner of the park, near the intersection of Drayton Street and Park Avenue, to join the event.
“Through our work at CCAC, we strive to provide educational resources and information on the signs of child abuse and recognize the crucial role community support plays in combating this epidemic,” said Executive Director Rose Grant-Robinson, CCAC. “When we as individuals can better recognize the signs of abuse and know how to safely and compassionately seek help, our communities become safer, more nurturing places for kids to grow and thrive.”
CCAC will also participate in other events throughout this important month, including a Chatham County proclamation on April 11 at 9:30 a.m.. And CCAC will host a ribbon cutting for its Hispanic Outreach Center’s new location on April 25.
CCAC’s annual Stand Up. Speak Out. Conference, previously scheduled for April 4, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. The new conference date and additional information will follow.
